NORTHBRIDGE    -    The 14th Annual Fall Festival, “Under the Big Top”, sponsored by St. Patrick’s Church will be held at the Church’s parking lot, which is located on East Street, near the corner of Church & Cross Streets, Whitinsville.  Come and enjoy some family fun, with a kid’s area, food tent, bake sale, bargain tents, music, handmade arts & crafts and silent auction.  508-234-2649   (Free)

SUNDAY, September 24th

9/24/06    -    Noon – 4:00 PM

GRAFTON    -    Attend the 27th Annual Apple Pie Social & Harvest Fair at the historic Grafton Common, Route 140. Entertainment will be by the Kelly Clark Harvest Jazz Band, the Fiddle Children of Worcester, & the Puppet Preachers. There will also be a children’s toy table and amusements, hand made crafts, penny raffle, bake table, silent auction, and delicious foods, such as homemade corn chowder and, of course, apple pie with all the fixings. NORTHBRIDGE   - 10th Gear Christian Youth Cyclists and the Seven Hills Wheelmen team up to offer the Major Taylor Century Bicycle Tour of 100, 62 or 25 cycling miles along the scenic roads of the Blackstone Valley, with routes including several of the Heritage Homecoming events.  Staggered start at the Whitin Community Center, Hill Street, Whitinsville. GRAFTON    -    20thAnnual Rev. William Blackstone Ecumenical Breakfast, This year, the Breakfast will be located at the St. James Church, 87 Main Street, South Grafton. The Guest Speaker will be the John H. Chafee  Blackstone River Valley National Heritage Corridor Park Ranger and Chief Interpreter, Chuck Arning, who will speak on the historic 1828-1848 Blackstone Canal & recent developments to preserve the upper end of the Canal on the Blackstone River. The Event will be sponsored by National Grid and the Blackstone Valley Heritage Homecoming Committee.  Tickets are $6.00 per person. BLACKSTONE VALLEY   -   The 7th Blackstone River Valley Greenway Challenge is starting this year in Worcester and ending at the Kelly House in Lincoln RI. Team competition will participate in bicycling, running and canoeing around a 60 mile course in the Valley through Massachusetts and Rhode Island communities.  For more information, contact the John H. Chafee Blackstone River Valley National Heritage Corridor 401-762-0250.  The entry fee is $50.00 and pre-registration is required. BLACKSTONE    -    Daniels Farms is a new addition to the Valley of historic preserved farms. Built in 1750, it celebrates the working farm and its traditions in New England. The Daniel’s Farmstead Foundation volunteers wil host tours of the home and Cider mill. It is located at 286 Mendon Street in Blackstone. GRAFTON  -  5th Annual Hunter Pace, a timed equestrian event involving around 100 riders covers 10 miles of field & forest terrain in the Brigham Hill and Potter Hill area. From Route 146:

  • Take the Boston Road exit in Sutton towards Wilkinsonville.

  • Travel 1.3 miles on Boston Road to the Wilkinsonville Fire Station at the intersection of Boston Road and Providence Road. (Route 122A)

  • Turn RIGHT onto Route 122A which becomes Main Street in South Grafton.

  • Drive 1.4 miles through Saundersville to Saint James Church on your right.

  • The Church Hall is across the street from the South Grafton Fire Station and the South Grafton Elementary School.

From Route 122:

  • At the Northbridge-Grafton town line continue heading north 1.1 miles on Route 122. (Providence Road)

  • At Cumberland Farms BEAR LEFT onto Route 122A. (Main Street).

  • Proceed past the former Fisherville Mill site and over the railroad tracks-elevated bridge.  

  • St. James Church Hall is 0.2 miles ahead on the left across the street from the South Grafton Fire Station and the South Grafton Elementary School.
