NORTHBRIDGE - The 15th Annual Fall Festival, “Hit Parade”, sponsored by St. Patrick’s Church will be held at the Church’s parking lot, which is located on East Street, near the corner of Church & Cross Streets, Whitinsville. UPTON - Many activities are scheduled for “Heritage Day”. The Upton Historical Society will hold an old fashion “yard sale” on the Town Common, Route 140, from 9:00 -2:00. The Friends of the Upton Library will have a used book and miscellaneous items sale at theTown Library, 2 Main Street, 9:00-1:00, both Saturday and Sunday. NORTHBRIDGE - 10th Gear Christian Youth Cyclists will coordinate for the Seven Hills Wheelmen this year for the Major Taylor Century Bicycle Tour of 100, 62 or 25 cycling miles along the scenic roads of the Blackstone Valley, with routes including several of the Heritage Homecoming events. UXBRIDGE – “The Headwaters to River Bend Farm” will be a hands-on program from Worcester to Uxbridge at the State Park Visitor Center. Learn how the River became so mighty. BLACKSTONE VALLEY -
The 8th Blackstone River Valley Greenway Challenge is starting this year at the Blackstone River State Park Visitor Center, Lincoln, RI. Team competition will participate in bicycling, canoeing, and running around a 60 mile course in the Valley through Rhode Island & Massachusetts communities. Finish line is at Waters Farm, Sutton, MA, with award ceremony & prize drawings at 4:00 pm. Best viewing results at the start and finish for spectators. For more information, contact the John H. GRAFTON - Attend the 28th Annual Apple Pie Social & Harvest Fair at the historic Grafton Common, Route 140. Entertainment will be by the Kelly Clark Harvest Jazz Band, the Fiddle Children of Worcester, & the Puppet Preachers. There will also be a children’s toy table, hand made crafts, bake table, silent auction, and delicious foods, such as homemade corn chowder, chili and, of course, apple pie with all the fixings. HOPEDALE - 21st Annual Rev. William Blackstone Ecumenical Breakfast, This year, the Breakfast will be located at the Unitarian Church at 65 Hopedale Street. The Guest Speakers will be local historians, Daniel and Elaine Malloy, who will speak on the significance of the Underground Railroad in Hopedale. The Event will be sponsored by National Grid and the Blackstone Valley Heritage Homecoming Committee. Tickets are $6.00 per person. For tickets, call Dick at 508-478-2642. BLACKSTONE - Daniels Farms, located at 286 Mendon Street, was built in 1750, and depicts the working farm and its traditions in New England. All three days volunteers will host tours of the Barn and Cider Mill, spinning demostrations, bake sale & refreshments. On Sat., the Blackstone Valley Community Concert Band will perform at 1:00 pm. Dog retrieval demonstrations Sat. & Sun. at 1:30 pm, a butter churning demonstraton all day by Mendon’s Hawkes Farm with cows & calves, and on Monday a “Ladies Hats” demonstration at 1:00 pm by Margo Bik.
